Nice lady found him, and wanted to keep him. She brought him in to be tested and vaccinated, he came up possitve for FeLV. She has several other kitties at home so he could not go back home with her. He does not currently have any vaccines, but he can have any before going anywhere. Very sweet kitty, white with black, DSH. Loves attention!

Found as a stray not long after I found 2 other kittens who came to be know as Evel and Knievel. Evel and Knievel tested negative for FeLV however what we thought to be possibly another brother "Robbie" tested positive. He is amazingly sweet even though he was a stray. Doesn't stop purring willing to put up w/ lots of kisses and medicating. Recently neutered and up to date on vaccines

Kitty had been dumped off in woods where I feed a spayed cat . I found Kitty Dec 19th, 2007, it is a neutered male, age 8 years about and is declawed and very domesticated.I brought Kitty to the Vet January 2, 2008 to be tested as I would bring it home. Currently at the Vet and time is the essence. It is a sweet, docile kitty and looks very healthy.

Jazzy is a neutered Himalayan male that is shy but very loving. He was rescued with his 'sister' from Hurricane Katrina by a woman in Tennessee and she was told he was 'healthy' and 'up-to-date' on all shots. She already owned a cat and decided to adopt both Jazzy and his sister together. About a year later, she noticed that Jazzy's eyes remained dilated even in the light, when the other cats' eyes constricted. She brought Jazzy to our clinic and after diagnosing bilateral miosis (both eyes stay dilated), we tested him and found out he was Felv-positive. The woman tested the other two cats, which were negative, so decided to surrender Jazzy to our clinic. His eyes don't seem to be causing him any problems. He has been living in the isolation ward of our hospital for one month - as we are trying to find him a good home.

My husband and I care for a family of stray cats outside your suburban home. We got a newcomer to our group this past fall. We posted signs regarding a lost cat with no results. When we brought him in to be neutered our vet told us that he had tested pos for FeLV. He is in really good condition, about 2 years old. He is currently in our vets office but can not stay there for very much longer. He is a beautiful cat. He is all black with four white feet. He is not a ferral cat. He is very friendly and litterbox trained. We already have 4 non-FeLV inside cats....... Please help!

Misty is a most affectionate kitty and full of personality. She does not care for dogs! Misty belonged to a neighbor and was always outdoors even in bad weather. I asked one of the children when Misty was going to have her operation so she wouldn't have kittens and they looked at me like I had 3 heads. She had never been to the vet. No check-up, no vaccines. Later they came to me and said everyone was tired of her and they were going to take her to the shelter. I said I would take her. We went straight to my vet. She has now been spayed and had her shots. She is FeLV positive. She is so full of life. curious, entertaining - all kitty! I already have 5 kitties and no way to keep her separated from everyone. No to mention I have a dog and she does NOT get along with dogs.

Found roaming the streets alone, these two adorable kittens were picked up by a local animal shelter and quickly taken by Treasured Friends, a local adoption agency. Both kittens tested positive for FeLV, and are now living at a foster home. These little guys desperately need a forever home. They're sweet, adorable, and very playful. They love other cats, and also dogs (even 90# ones). Please help!

Tootsie is a very sweet young Calico whose life was almost over. Somebody moved into a new house and found her hanging around. Nobody in the neighbor hood wanted to have anything to do with her. But Tootsie didn’t give up and showed up at the same house every day. Maybe the former owner just moved and left her behind. Tootsie was dragging her front foot and so she has a bad sore on it. Finally the new family brought her to the Animal Control shelter. This is a high kill shelter. But they called us from PAAW People Assisting Animal Welfare in Youngsville, Louisiana and we picked her up. Straight to the vet we went and as was thought the leg would have to amputated, then came the real blow-she also tested positive for Leukemia. Tootsie is already spayed, very loving, her fur is like plush and she looks very, very healthy. Her favorite spot is sitting in somebody's lap. Update: we amputated her leg and she is doing great.

Shiatsu Kitty

Shiatsu Kitty

Age:3 years

Shiatsu Kitty has a lot of personality and is FeLV +, which means she has an disease contageous to cats (not dogs or people) and which may make her suseptible to other opportunistic diseases. She could live 2 months, 2 years or 20 years, but she needs a stress free environment where she will be an only kitty and be monitored for minor health issues before they become major issues for her compromised immune system. She likes the dogs in her foster home and would be fine with quiet, respectful older children. FeLV kitties can enjoy quality lifes, even if long lives are not in their stars. We named her Shiatsu Kitty because she loves to sit on our laps and kneed our tummies, our legs, our arms...whatever she thinks needs her special massage attention. We are sure she knows that petting a cat lowers your blood pressure and gives you a sense of wellbeing. We think it's the same for her; she is relaxed and happy when she is with us. As much as we adore her, we'd love to find her a home where she will be an only cat and can enjoy full freedom in her home. We had a pet massage therapist do some work on little Shiatsu and she said "wow, her chakras are wide open"....she's a happy girl and has no idea that life for her may be short. We are NOT going to tell her to do anything but live and enjoy the things that make life worthwhile....toy fuzzy mice that rattle, yummy canned cat food, and laps where she sits and gives us her massage because that's her job. snif If you have a big heart and want a single cat who will give you all the love she has in her heart for as long as her little body sustains her, please contact us. We are happy to donate half her adoption fee if an appropriate home comes looking for her. We truely adore this girl's spirit and zest for life and consider her family, so if the right home finds her, we'll let her go and live large in the time she has left to live...which again, could well be a long time given her current state of health and happiness.

Lily was picked up as a tiny stray kitten by Schertz Humane Society, located in the San Antonio, Texas area. She tested positive for FeLV , and was tested again several times. Her test continued to show positive. She has no symptoms of the disease, and of course there's no way to know if she will ever show symptoms or if she'll remain healthy. Lily is a beautiful Seal-point Siamese mix kitten. She has been living in a foster home since she was trapped as a baby. Her foster mom reports that Lily is a bit shy with strangers at first, but then will warm up to them. Lily adores her foster mom and loves to sit on her lap for snuggle time.

Mallory is one of the most loving kitties at the no kill animal shelter where I am on the board of directors. She went to get spayed last week, and I was stunned when the vet's office called to matter-of-factly inform us that "Mallory had to be put down because she tested positive for feline leukemia." I quickly called to ask if she had already been killed and he refused to tell me and then hung up on me! So I left work and drove to his office, demanding to know where Mallory was. He screamed at me, told me I was an idiot and that I was condemning every cat in the shelter to death by keeping her alive. I told him if I valued his medical opinion that might concern me, but given the way I felt about him, I wasn't at all concerned. I took Mallory to another vet and had her spayed. Now, I'm just trying to find a home for her so I won't have saved her life just for her to sit in a cage at the shelter in quarantine. (I'd take her myself but I have other cats - including an aggressive deaf cat that would probably eat her.) She's an orange and white tabby with beautiful gold eyes.

Uma

Age:2 years

Contact:Community Concern for Cats www.communityconcernforcats.org (925)938-CATS admin@cc4cats.org
Uma is being fostered by Community Concern for Cats in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our website is www.communityconcernforcats.org. Uma was rescued from a high-kill shelter with her litter of 5 kittens last September and tested negative for FeLV and FIV on an Idexx snap test (at home). The negative result was repeated at a vet's office when she was spayed in November. All kittens also tested negative on Idexx Snap Tests at the vet office. She was in the process of being transferred to another rescue on a rescue-exchange program for cats that had been in one place for too long in March when she tested positive for FeLV on two Idexx snap tests and an IFA test (30 days apart). All other cats in her foster home have tested negative TWICE on Idexx snap tests (60 days apart). We contacted the homes that adopted her kittens (at this point 6 months old) and paid to have them re-tested (Idexx at vet). All were negative. So where/how did Uma get leukemia? We have NO idea. But, she DOES need a home. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated preventatively for parasites and FIV negative. She loves to play and run around chasing toys. She IS dominant and would LOVE to be the only cat (or have a cat/s that does not mind being bossed around). She will come sit in your lap for hours, but only on her own terms -- "please do not pick me up" she says but BOY is she a fool for a good petting. She used to be quite thin (when she was nursing) but BOY she can eat and is at a very, uh, "healthy" weight right now. A glowing vet reference would be accepted in lieu of an adoption fee and we would consider transporting to the right home if not in the SF Bay Area (Northern California). If you can forward and crosspost this we would appreciate it VERY VERY MUCH!

I adopted Genevieve and her buddy Sedna from a local shelter. Although they had tested FeLV negative at the shelter, Genevieve tested positive (slightly at first, and then clearly yesterday in follow-up bloodwork). After much consideration and heartache, I've decided that it's best to separate the two in the hopes of keeping Sedna negative. I'm desperately looking for a good home for Genevieve! She is very shy of people, but she would love to be in a quiet place or in a home with other cats that she could befriend. The SPCA is holding her now while I try to find a home, but they can only hold her for a short time.

Hi my name is Katrina, I’m a 2-years-old shorthaired pastel & grey tabby cat. I have beautiful golden eyes and the softest silky fur. The vet thinks I’m a Japanese Bob Tail as I meet all the criteria. I was lucky to be rescued a couple weeks ago from PCH, where I was found frightened, starving and pregnant. I am now thriving in a foster home and am so grateful as living under cars on the cold concrete, without much food wasn’t much of a life. I thus shower my foster Mom with lots of affection....I purr a lot and am very playful. I have been to the vet where I was spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, and now just need a loving forever home! Might you be that person? Please consider opening your home to me, by contacting Lorraine at (562) 544-0335 or email: lbsn2006@yahoo.com. A donation of $95 is greatly appreciated to help offset her veterinary expenses.

Sarah Jane came from a Feral mom that was rescued when the caregiver saw that she was pregnant. The litter of kittens was born in the home and have lived indoors all of their lives. The mom was tested for FeLV and was negative. Sarah Jane was spayed in August 2005 and given all of her vaccinations. She was tested when she was slated to be showcased at PetSmart and came up positive with the Elisa test. She was retested with the IFA test. We have no idea of whereshe was exposed to FeLV.

Benjiro was rescued from the high kill pound in Spalding Georgia by the volunteers of the online rescue group, Savethekitties.org. He is presently in boarding-in a cage in Griffin, Georgia-and is deemed a real sweetheart. His name in Japanese means "be in peace" which is what I sincerely hope for him and his female companion, Kuma. He is a beautiful sleek black cat with no behavioral problems. Unfortunately, funds are limited for this small rescue group and a painful decision will have to be made within a few weeks. I just recently discovered this group and as I have 3 current postives and was owned by five others now deceased, I am trying to help them. I have 7 cats total and 2 older dogs both with health problems and a long suffering husband. I can board them with a friend for 4 weeks if that helps get them into your sanctuary but after that, she has other commitments. Thank you for your time in reading all this.

Padme was pulled from the local shelter where she was slated for euthenasia (before any blood tests were done!). I run a small rescue, and bloodtested her and she turned up Felv+, and I don't have the space to separate her from my non FIV/Felv kitties. Padme is very scared, but she's not aggressive. She does hiss, but you can pet her. She does not bite or scratch. She does need socialization, but I think she'll be fine with patient, loving people. Padme is located in Oak Ridge, NJ, but I am willing to drive to give her a great home.

Stormy

My little guy's name is 'Stormy' because we found him on the storm drain one night right in front of our house. There was another cat in the storm drain, I don't know if it was 'mamma' or he just latched on. Because he was so friendly (he never ran from me, and let me pick him right up) I wonder if he may have been put out near my house. I already have 9 other cats (and 4 dogs), most taken in off the streets. Several are already 'special needs', one has cronic IBD (and has her own room to avoid the stress of interaction with the others), another one is asthmatic. I brought Stormy in that night, and pretty much kept him separate for a couple days. I intended on getting him right to the vet, but my husband had just gotten out of the hospital (the same day we found him) for a staph infection, so I was a little busy. But he seemed fine, so I let him run free. When I finally got him in for his check up, 4 weeks later, he tested positive. I was heartbroken for him, but also for my other kitties. I'm afraid I've endangered them already. They were all vaccinated, but every little sound, cough, hairball, etc., I panic. I'm probably going to have to re-test them all again and pray. Stormy now has his own room (good thing the kids are grown and gone - the cats have their rooms), but really cries to come out a lot. Sometimes I bring him out in one room, while they're in another, or let him lay around on the couch. But its hard to keep a kitten with his energy down. He's beautiful, as you can see, and such a sweetheart. You'd never know anything was wrong with him and he's such a loving boy.

These adorable siblings were born in a box of styrofoam packing peanuts in our shed in mid to late March 2006. Momma was able to gain easy access to such comforts after a garage fire claimed the back wall of the shed (hence the names of these two little fireballs). We were far too much the nosy neighbors for Mom's taste and she relocated the family after a week or so. Several weeks later, we began spotting them around the neighborhood and were able to get our hands on these two to in order to find them a loving home. My mother volunteers for a cat shelter, so we assumed it would be a quick and easy placement process, but when we took them to the clinic to receive shots, we were told Charcoal (female, all grey) was FeLV positive. Today, about eight weeks later, we had the tests re-done and Ashes (male, grey & white) is also positive. The shelter is insisting we euthanize them, and we're not sure how much longer we can put them off. They were born feral, but are now extremely affectionate. Both of them purr like motorboats as soon as they see a familiar face. Ashes is a hearty, rough-and- tumble boy and Charcoal is a demure little lady (until her favorite toys come out and she forgets her raisin'). Their little hearts would break if they were to be separated (when we partitioned their room to limit Ashes' exposure they kept finding ways to escape so they could be together) so we would really prefer to adopt them out as a pair. We would keep them in a heartbeat, but due to our allergies and our four dogs, we simply can't. The little basement room we have them in won't hold them for too much longer. Please save these priceless little lives!

Mr. Cat was found as a stray and has been friendly and cuddly from the start. He is asymptomatic and healthy in every other way. He has all his claws and enjoys the scratching post. Thanks for helping me find Tom Cat (AKA T.C.) a home where he will be with other kitties. This past winter someone in our neighborhood moved to New York and set me out. He came to our house to eat every few days and stayed with us when it was cold or wet out. All I want is to be loved and to give all my love to someone. I am the picture perfect lap cat that will curl up and purr myself to sleep on your lap. If I was in the house, wherever you are, I want to be. In your lap asleep, curled up asleep in the recliner with you, curled up in bed, or asleep at your feet. I really love people. Last week TC became ill. I had been trying to get him a rabies vaccine for a while, but he would disappear whenever I made a vet appointment. When I took him to the vet he suspected FeLV because of his condition and the swollen lymph nodes around his face. TC had multiple infections from bite wounds, probably from fighting, his temperature was 106 on Friday. He’s recovered well and is back to himself. Right now I am keeping him isolated from my other kitty, she’s 14 and is not positive. He is a very social kitty and tried his hardest to befriend my other kitty, but she would have no part of that! In hindsight I’m very glad, anytime he was in he would follow her around the house crying. Other than the FeLV he is in good shape, though at his age the vet did not recommend neutering him. He is stiff in his back legs, he can easily jump onto things, but has difficulty stepping over things. I had gotten him a shallow litter box since that’s the only place I noticed him having problems. I’m not sure how he is with children, but he is a very patient kitty. And, he doesn’t like dogs of any size!

Iggy was left behind when his owners moved away on the weekend before Thanksgiving. He sought shelter on my back porch shortly afterwards during a particularly cold period. When I took him in to be checked by the vet as part of a pre-residential regimen for boarding at my place, we discovered that Iggy is feline leukemia positive. Because I already have a non-positive cat living with me, the unfortunate news means that I can't keep this adorable creature --and Iggy is still without a permanent home. I became acquainted with Iggy when he would come up to me in the afternoons and demand to sit in my lap and have me pet him. Other times he'd be curled up in an empty flower pot taking in the last bit of sun on a pleasant afternoon or dancing around with a twig or a leaf that the wind had stirred up. This adorable adolescent is one exceptionally affectionate and beautiful cat who will make some lucky person a loving companion. His emerald green eyes are set distinctively close together and his shiny, well groomed medium hair coat is multi-shades of gray with gorgeous contrast. He would do well in or out of the company of other cats but, he really seems to crave human contact more than anything. Please contact me to discuss any questions not answered above about Iggy. Thanks, Big Iggy Fan

Jack was spotted living in a sewer outside the elementary school where I work. As it was December, he was cold, starved, and dehydrated. After a week of futile attempts to catch him, a local agency lent me a trap. Once he was in a warm, safe environment, well fed, and watered, he opened up and revealed his charming personality. He is incredibly affectionate and cuddley. He purrs often and wants nothing more than to spend time with humans. He would make a wonderful pet for a household with no other cats or a household that has a FeLV positive and needs a friend for them, a family committed to ensuring his quality of life. He has a wonderful disposition and is very lovey! My husband and I have two rescued cats and one rescued dog living at home with us. As a result, Jack cannot stay with us permanently. We are concerned that keeping him isolated, while fine for a temporary solution, is not a permanent solution to his situation. The local adoption agencies, while helpful, cannot accept a FeLV positive cat as he poses a potential threat to other cats awaiting adoption at their facilities.

Linney

The kitty appeared on my porch one morning about three months ago. She was wearing a tattered collar, but didn’t have any tags or other way to identify where she came from. The collar was also extremely tight, to the point that the kitty was visibly choked by it and wasn't even able to put her tongue in her mouth. I immediately removed the collar and gave her some dry food and water. When I returned home from work that afternoon, she was still in the same spot. So I continued feeding her…which of course kept her around. Although at first she was reluctant to let me touch her and would only come out to greet me if she heard the jingle of my car keys, it only took a couple of days for her to show her true affectionate side. After a few days, she was even following me to my car each morning as I left for work. Since the time we took her in, my boyfriend and I have searched for a home for this sweet kitty. One of our friends agreed to adopt her if we would take care of her shots and getting her spayed. We took her to the vet soon after, so that she could get spayed and move into her new home as soon as possible. In the course of her check-up, the kitty’s test for feline leukemia came back positive. Needless to say, we were heartbroken. The vet was wonderful and patient in informing us about the disease, and explained that the kitty’s life expectancy would be much longer if she could be an indoor kitty. When the friend who had agreed to take her found out about her diagnosis, though, he said he could no longer take her. Although we don’t blame him, it leaves us again in a tough spot trying to find a good home for her. My boyfriend and I both absolutely adore her, but we cannot keep her as an inside cat. We have a 4-month-old cat (another stray that I took in…lucky us!) that has tested negative, and keeping the two kitties locked up in different rooms so they don't have any contact with each other doesn't give them much quality of life. And keeping her as an outside cat not only lessens her life expectancy, it endangers other neighborhood kitties. So now we’re stuck. As for the basics, we have named her Linney (thanks to my boyfriend’s mild obsession with the actress Laura Linney). She is a grey tabby with white paws, about 7.5 pounds. The vet guesses she’s about 2 years old. Linney has been spayed, has had all or her shots, has her rabies tags, and is in great health despite her leukemia diagnosis. I do believe that she could have a long and happy life and make a great pet for someone. She is easily one of the sweetest, most affectionate animals I’ve ever known. She loves all people that I’ve seen her in contact with, and even the vet commented about how loving she is. It is her wonderful personality that makes me feel all the more obligated to find her a good home, where she can share all the love she has to give. She does get easily spooked by dogs, though, so she needs to go to a kitty-only home. If anyone is willing to provide this deserving kitty with a comfortable home, or would like any more information as they consider adopting her, they are more than welcome to contact me using the info below. Many thanks!

I found Cindy last week at my front door crying for affection. She was very hungry and appeared to have caught a cold. I fed her for 3 days in a row as she never left my front door. She was so friendly I decided to bring her indoors & out of the cold. She was so thankful for a warm bed, food & water that she let me clean her ears, clip her nails and brush her fur! Not your typical stray cat! She sure is special, what a great disposition! Well, I was sad to know that she was Leukemia positive from the local vet whom assumed I would put her down. I didn't feel right about doing that since Cindy is a very friendly & lovable cat. My hope was to find her a home with other cats with the same disease so that she would have playmates and live a happy life whether short or long.... this was my wish for her. I currently have 18 of my own cats and 2 dogs. All my cats were strays & some very feral. They are all indoor cats now & all get along. I even have 2 FIV positive cats whom I decided to keep and they socialize freely among the rest of the cats. I hope that you can help me find Cindy a great home. I currently have her in my spare room separate from the rest of my feline family. In just a short time together she is looking much better and seems to love living indoors. Please help. Thanks.

Notes: We got a litter of 3 kittens that were born in a garden shed that belonged to Judy Patterson. The mother cat was trapped, spayed and released as she was feral. These kittens are tiny, born around 4/15/06 and are the cutest little tabbies ever. This is what they look like: 1) Shroeder has black and tan tiger tabby patches with white feet, chest and underside. He is a male. 2) Scooby is a male with gray tiger tabby patches with white and 3) Semille, a female kitten with tiger patches and white They are loving little kittens but will require an inside only home. Scooby is only about 6 - 7 weeks old and has tested FIV positive. This kitten will be retested again because the vet emphasizes they are not be considered positive until they test positive at 6 months of age and feels that it may be the antibodies from the mother's milk causing the kitten to test false positive. Even though the kitten may test positive, it will in all probability live the same life span as a negative cat, up to 20 years of age BUT should be an inside only cat to protect it from being subjected to illnesses that outside cats are exposed to. There is no adoption fee for this kitten but we stress that it must go to an inside only home. Call Dianne at 704-786-7768 or cell 704-793-7723 to adopt this precious little baby

When my foster mom found me, she instantly fell in love with my easy-going nature. Unfortunately, she already has a dog and a cat. Otherwise, she would keep me in a minute. I am sweet and very loving. She is keeping me temporarily until she can find me a home. I tested positive for feline leukemia. Despite that, I am optimistic that I will have a long and happy life. I have been spayed and have all of my immunizations. I am otherwise very healthy.

Whiskers was born to a stray mom. After he and his 2 siblings were old enough, they got tested for FeLV/& FIV. Only Whiskers was positive for the FeLV. The family kept him, but had to separate him from the other cats in the family. He lives mostly outside in a gage and comes in when the weather is bad or for some playtime. He is a very sweet and loving Siamese-Tabby who wants his own home so bad.

Kitty was born a wharf cat, daddy was living on the boat "Amazing Grace" and momma was living underneath the deck at the local waterfront bar. So her daddy was a sailor, her momma a bar wench. I was a customer at the bar and fell in love with Gracey and took her home. Now a very sad set of circumstances has occurred in my life. My significant other has lost his job and his house is going into foreclosure. I am moving in with a friend whose has cats that are not feline leukemia positive, plus she has two dogs. I am heartbroken that I have to give Gracey up (she is doing sooo well right now) and I hope you can find it in your heart to help us!

We took in Baby Jaguar as a stray, we took him to the vet and he gave us the option of euthanizing him. We chose to have him neutered and have had him ever since. We have been trying to find him a hoome although we have not been successful. He is beautiful and he has an amazing temperament. He has not been declawed because we were afraid that if he did get out of the house he would be defenseless. He has never scratched the children or the furniture. We wouldn't give him up if we did not have to. We love him. He has no symptoms and I do not want to have him euthanized. Please help him

Sammy was rescued from a not so nice place. I was working with a woman doing TNR at her home and Sammy would hang around. I felt bad for him because he was living outdoors and was so very friendly. I took her hoping to get him a home. When he went to be fixed, he tested positive for FELV. I had the more extensive test done and that also came back positive. He is with my other fosters but he is kept in a separate crate. I need to find him a home where he can be with other FELV kitties. I foster alot of cats and I don't want to take the chance on infecting my other fosters and I don't want to have Sammy live in a cage his entire life.

Tess was placed in my care on a temporary basis because she tested positive for FeLV and could not stay with my friend who rescues animals for fear she would be contagious to other cats. I was supposed to have her for one month, but when re-tested, she was still positive & if I didn't keep fostering her, they were going to put her to sleep. She's great with my beagle and super friendly, but space is tight in my apartment. She would do better in a house with lots of running room since she can't go outside to play. 5 months later she's still with me, but looking for a more permanent home.

We adopted Mitzy from a rescue group here and when we took her for her first visit we found out that she was FeLV positive. We have another cat and so we had to have her tested and luckily she does not have it. We decided that we were going to try to give Mitzy a home, but she is not adjusting well here. We have 2 very small girls and a house dog as well and another baby on the way. She can't stand to be around the dog at all. She does great with my husband and me and loves to get on our laps and cuddle with us. She has become very affectionate with us. She needs to go to a home where she is either the only cat or with another cat that has what she does so she can not pass it on. She can be in a home with older children, but younger children she doesn't do so well around. She has been a complete indoor cat since we have welcomed her into our home. She is declawed in the front and up to date on all of her shots and vet stuff. We do have vet records that will go with her to her new home. She is also spayed! She would be a great companion for someone, but she is very nervous in our house because there is just too much going on here. She does great around my other cat though. It breaks our heart to have to see her go, but it's what is best for her. We have asked the organization that we got her from if they could take her back and find her a good home, but they said that they would have her put down. We don't want to see that happen, but she has to go to a new home ASAP!

Snowflake was rescued from Animal Control in Lafayette, which is a high kill shelter and Snowflake was very sick. For a while the foster mom had even to feed her. But Snowflake got over her upper respiratory infection and is now healthy again. It took a bit longer for her because she is carrying the Feline leukemia virus and that makes it harder to fight infections. But now she is all back. Snowflake is love bug and is always ready to greet with a rub and a meow. She would love to have her own home and if possible to be the only cat. He thought she is pregnant and didn't want her to have her babies outside in the winter. But as it showed - Macy wasn't pregnant. She was already spayed, but she is a very big kitty with a very big heart. She is just a sweetheart and her foster mom really loves her. She is very affectionate. But unfortunately she also carries the Feline leukemia virus. So far Macy doesn't show any signs of being sick. She is just a fat and happy Tabby cat that needs a home where she will be loved for the rest of her life. She goes along with other cats and kids.

Ringo was going to be adopted by our neighbors. They took him to a low cost spay/neuter clinic where he was neutered, vaccinated, treated for worms and fleas. We live in a very busy area and they left him outside all the time, then we noticed they had scrawled on the back of his rabies tag "I Need A Home." They said that he had urinated on one of their other cats (who are indoor/outdoor), and so they did not want him anymore. We took him in. That was February 25th, 2008. Fast forward to April 15th, we took him to our vet for a hot spot on his tail that wouldn't heal. The vet asked me if he had been tested for FeLV/FIV. I told her I believed he had since he had been at the low cost spay/neuter clinic and they don't generally release cats who are positive and we had spoken with our neighbors about him a couple of times and they never mentioned anything about it. I called the low cost clinic and specifically asked and was told that he had tested positive for FeLV in February when he was neutered. We tested him again and he was still positive. Our neighbors know we have other cats, but they didn't bother to tell us that he had tested positive. So now my other three cats have been exposed. And one of them already is immune suppressed from being on steroids for lymphoma. The other two were immediately vaccinated, but of course the vaccine is not 100% effective. I am very sad. Ringo is a lovely cat, and he has never urinated on anyone in our home! He is playful, vibrant, energetic and healthy. The spot on his tail turned out to be a bite wound. He took antibiotics for about a week and it healed nicely and the fur is growing back. He would do best with a playmate who likes to rough and tumble a bit, or as an only cat. I don't know how he would be around dogs.

In Virginia. This young seal point Siamese boy started showing up at a lady's house, pitifully thin and cold. She called Siamese Rescue and I immediately went to pick him up. Before being accepted cats must test negative for FIV/FeLv, so I took him to be tested and he came up FeLv+. After a 20 minute cry, I looked into his amazingly blue eyes and he started talking to me. I knew he was a special boy who deserved saving. Kato has a perfect Siamese personality and intoxicating eyes peering out of a seal brown mask. He is a real lap kitty, hops up and makes himself at home, crawls up and across your shoulders. He carries on a great conversation and will listen to your problems of the day. The vet has given him a clean bill of health, except the FeLv, and will make a purr-fect companion for someone looking for a real Siamese companion.

Tiger Lily came to me when she was about 6 months old. She was brought to me by 2 young neighbor girls who told me she was being mistreated by one of their mothers, who said she was going to kill it. I told them I really couldn't keep her because I already had 7 cats, but I would take her temporarily and try to find her a home. Of course I took her to the vet to get checked out right away and found out she was Feline Leukemia positive. So, not being able to come in and socialize with the rest of my family, she's been living on my front porch/sun room ever since then. She's a beautiful, sweet, lovable girl who needs to get more attention than I can provide her, and I hope you can help me find her that loving home and new Mom or Dad.

Last Saturday night I picked up a cat near my home, thinking it may have been my cat, which went missing a couple months back. Although, they look identical, this cat is male 2 years old and not fixed. I took him to the vet on Wednesday. He is positive for Feline Aids and Feline Leukemia. He was given a Rabies shot and medicine. Both virus's are transferable from saliva and blood only to another animal. We have a cat who lives at my home and therefore it is a risk to keep the animal here. I am looking for a family who would be willing to nurture this cat for the next year, one who doesn't presently have an animal of any kind. He was named Rafaelle, as in Arc Angel Rafaelle. My previous female cat's name was Angel. He is very loving and prepared to live indoors with a family. Again, humans can not contract these illnesses.

Hi, My name is Sunburst! I'm an almost year old felv+ kitten. I spent my first six months living in an alley in Chicago. I didn't like being on my own so I made friends with folks in the neighborhood. Eventually, my foster mama Birdie took me in to stay with her. Birdie had planned to keep me as part of her family forever, but she has 3 non-positive cats so I can't stay. I think she's very sad because everyone says I'm the sweetest cat ever. I love to cuddle - when you put me on my lap, I just can't stop purring and I love to play. Right now, I'm almost socialized but since I have to live in the basement away from the rest of the family, I'm not used to all the kinds of noises people make. Birdie says I need a cat lady or gentleman with a little patience and a lot of love. I'm spayed and my doctor says I've got no health problems - I didn't even have worms from living outside. I just need a place to call home. Love, Sunburst

Houdini wandered into our yard and our hearts 3 months ago. He was a bit feral, but changed his mind about being wild and turned into a playful, loveable kitten after a week. We had hoped he would pass his first vet exam and become part of our already large pet family, but he tested positive for FeLV. Now, 3 months later, after being on various meds to help his immune system, he still has FeLV. He's otherwise healthy and doesn't show any signs of it. Yes, like his name suggests, Houdini knows how to disappear. But, he's extremely affectionate. He has a great purr and often rubs his face against mine when he's really being a lover. Houdini does extremely well with dogs (we have two big labs) and I think he would be a wonderful sibling to another FeLV-positive kitty. He's fully vaccinated and neutered. We just want a good, loving home for him.

Callie was found sitting on the sidewalk of a 7-lane state route in Southwest Florida. She sat very still while the nice lady picked her right up. Not knowing what to do now, the saver took her to a local vet. As with all too many strays when her test turned positive the 'must be euthanized' phrase was said. But it was Callie's lucky day that someone else recognized her exceptionally affectionate personality and in researching rescues found the Marley Fund. She is currently completely asymptomatic. She cannot get enough petting time and drools at the thought of it. She plays with her toys, loves feeding time and really wants a permanent lap to sleep in. The foster home is doing their best, but to keep her isolated she is confined to the garage, which she cannot begin to understand. When the door closes and the people have gone back in the house her cries
